BALTIMORE — More than 5,000 people participated in the 2006 US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Harrow Sports, from Jan. 12-15 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and Philadelphia Marriott. As usual, the focus of the convention was education and more than 125 individual clinic sessions were held for men's and women's coaches and officials. Included in those sessions were 15 live-field demonstrations in the On-Field Experience presented by Warrior.
Away from the classrooms, the convention had much more to offer. A record total of 116 vendors were on hand to display their goods and services in the largest vendor hall in the event's history.

The U.S. men's and women's national teams were both well-represented at the convention. Each team participated in live field sessions run by head coaches John Desko and Sue Heether, and many of the players and coaches on the staffs also conducted clinics.
This year's convention also featured the debut of LaxSkillz, a new US Lacrosse initiative to help introduce people to the sport. LaxSkillz gives individuals an opportunity to scoop, dodge and score on a mini field. Points are awarded based on how fast the course is completed and the speed of the shot into the goal. LaxSkillz will be featured at several venues over the coming year.
