BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse has announced the coaches for the 2006 National Senior Showcase, an event that features the top senior high school boys’ lacrosse players in the country. This year’s event will be held from June 23-25 at the Fenton Soccer Park in St. Louis. The following high school coaches will serve as the coaches for the four regional teams:
East Kevin Murray – Bishop Hendricken H.S., Rumford, R.I. Paul Stankewicz – Henderson H.S., West Chester, Pa.
North Bruce Atkinson – Upper St. Clair H.S., Pittsburgh, Pa. Jono Chapin – Middlebury Union H.S., New Haven, Vt.
South Steve Claiborne – Woodbridge H.S., Woodbridge, Va. Michael Gannon – Pace Academy, Atlanta, Ga.
West Brandon Fortier – Issaquah H.S., North Bend, Wash. Adam Lechner – Monte Vista H.S., Danville, Calif.
Approximately 100 players will be selected to participate in this year’s US Lacrosse National Senior Showcase. Players are selected for the event based on nominations from the area chairmen of the US Lacrosse Men’s Division Coaches Council.
The North defeated the West 16-8 to win last year’s National Senior Showcase. Kenny Nims, expected to make an impact as a freshman at Syracuse this year, earned MVP honors for the North team after scoring five goals in a semifinal win over the South and then adding two goals and an assist in the championship game victory over the West.
