U.S. Women's U-19 Staff Named

BALTIMORE — The staff for the 2007 U.S. U-19 Women’s Lacrosse Team has been named and includes assistant coaches Lindsay Manning, Krystin Porcella and Jessica Wilk; manager Lisa Christiansen; and certified athletic trainer Kathy Ayers. Wendy Kridel was announced as the head coach of the team in April. The selections were announced by the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Teams Committee.

Manning is the head girls’ varsity lacrosse coach at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pa. She previously coached at the Groton (Mass.) School and was an assistant coach for the 2003 U.S. U-19 team that won the IFWLA championship. Manning, who serves on the US Lacrosse Coaches Education Committee, is a graduate of James Madison University where she played lacrosse.

Porcella is the head girls’ varsity lacrosse coach at John Carroll School in Bel Air, Md. She previously served as an assistant coach at Loyola College and Virginia Tech University and continues to play club lacrosse. She is president of Top of the Bay Sports and Play Action Sports. She was a member of the U.S. team from 1996 to 1998 and lettered in both lacrosse and soccer at Loyola College.

Wilk is a four-time veteran of the U.S. World Cup team, serving as a captain three times. Wilk was an all-world section at the 2005 IFWLA World Cup and has helped the U.S. capture three world championships. Wilk, also a field hockey standout, was the head field hockey coach at the University of Virginia from 1995 to 2005. She has served as an assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Virginia and the University of Maryland.

Christiansen is serving as the U.S. team manager for the third time. She currently teaches at South Woods Middle School in Syosset, N.Y., and has been the head girls’ varsity lacrosse coach at Syosset High School for 18 years. She is co-director of the Syosset PAL Youth Lacrosse Program and co-president of the Nassau County Girls Lacrosse Association. She is a US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaches Education Trainer and has served on the US Lacrosse Board of Directors since 2002. She’s a graduate of Cortland State University and received her Master’s degree from Hofstra University.

Ayers will be serving as the athletic trainer for the U.S. U-19 team for the fourth time. She has been a certified athletic trainer and physical education teacher for Fairfax (Va.) Public Schools since 1990. She currently plays club field hockey and provides private coaching to high school field hockey players. Ayers has been a program coordinator for the Fairfax County Injury Prevention Training Program since 2003. She is a graduate of Temple University and received her Master’s from George Mason University.

The 2007 IFWLA U-19 World Championship will be held from Aug. 4-12, 2007 in city of Peterborough in Ontario, Canada. The US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Teams Committee is responsible for the oversight of the for the U.S. Under-19, Elite and Developmental teams.
