BALTIMORE – US Lacrosse is sponsoring an essay contest for boys and girls in grades 3-8 to coincide with the 2008 Champions Challenge lacrosse event being held January 26-27, 2008 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex® in Buena Vista, Florida. US Lacrosse is challenging youth sports fans to write about who their champion is and why.
Two essays will be chosen – one boy and one girl – and winners will receive a brand new U.S. National Team lacrosse stick, a family 4-pack of tickets to the Champions Challenge weekend, and one free admission to the U.S. National Team clinic. Winning essays will also be posted on US Lacrosse’s web site.
"Champions Challenge offers kids the opportunity to not only watch, but to learn from the very best lacrosse players in the country," said Glen Schorr, managing director of marketing and branding at US Lacrosse. "Lacrosse is exploding in Florida and we are excited to offer the opportunity to players and fans."
Applicants may send their essays of 500 words or less by e-mail to mychampion@uslacrosse.org or regular mail to: US Lacrosse; 113 W. University Pkwy.; Baltimore, MD 21210; Attn: Champions Challenge. Essays will be judged on creativity, writing style, and relevance to the topic. The contest deadline is December 21, 2007 at midnight EST. Winners will be announced on January 7, 2008.
