US Lacrosse Awards $15,000 in Chapter Grants


BALTIMORE, Md. – US Lacrosse has announced the recipients of the 2007 chapter grants. The US Lacrosse Chapter Grant Program provides local chapters with additional funding to assist them in fulfilling chapter needs and ultimately growing the sport of lacrosse in their area. Grants are awarded based on the number of applications submitted and the proposed use of the grants by the applying chapter. This year, US Lacrosse awarded a combined total of $15,000 to nine different chapters.

The following chapter grant winners will use their grant for the following programs:

• Connecticut – A statewide initiative to provide positive coaches training.

• Idaho – The ILA will assist in getting a Northern Team for the very first time in the 2nd Annual Super Sevens Tournament in the Southwest section of the state, therefore; unifying the state by way of the chapter and promoting US Lacrosse.

• North Carolina – Funds will assist with the sponsorship of the Annual North Carolina Coaching Clinic in December 2008.

• North Coast Ohio – Funding a unique state-wide lacrosse symposium at which all three Ohio Chapters will be represented to discuss and deliberate individual hurdles in growing and fostering the game on all constituent levels.

• Potomac – To fund the cost of hosting logistics in order to hold their 2nd Annual Commissioners Meeting.

• San Diego – Development of "New Program Assistance" to help with start-up costs and get new programs off the ground.

• Utah – Funds to assist in the implementation of a very successful Annual Utah State Chapter Convention as well as the opportunity to participate as a vendor at the USL National Convention.

• Vermont – To help subsidize the cost to host a 2008 US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaches Education Clinic.

• Washington State – Funds to assist in hosting their Annual Coaches Convention for coaches at all levels of the game.
