BALTIMORE – US Lacrosse will coordinate tryouts for the 2007-08 women’s Elite and Developmental lacrosse teams this weekend at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Tryouts will be held from Aug. 3-5 with the evening sessions on Friday (6 to 10 p.m.) and Saturday (6:30 to 10 p.m.) open to the public.

Ninety-eight players will be competing for spots on one of the two teams, including three members of the 2005 World Cup team (Quinn Carney, Rachael Becker Dececco and Crista Samaras). Also, the four most recent recipients of the Tewaaraton Trophy, presented to the nation’s top collegiate player, are trying out for the U.S. teams: Kristen Kjellman (2006, 2007), Katie Chrest (2005), Amy Appelt (2004) and Dececco (2003). The Elite and Developmental teams will compete during the Stars & Stripes Weekend in October and during the Champions Challenge Weekend in January. Additionally, the national team members serve as instructors for a variety of national teams clinics throughout the country and will hold periodic training weekends.
