2007 Equipment Grants Announced

BALTIMORE, Md. — Sixty lacrosse organizations will receive US Lacrosse Equipment Grants this year – the most in the program’s history. The grants were awarded to programs in 29 states.

The Equipment Grant Program, now in its ninth year, is an annual offering of US Lacrosse. Lacrosse programs applying for the grant must show a demonstrated financial need and priority is given to those residing in a state or region where lacrosse opportunities are currently limited or absent.

"The grant was the main tool to get our team viable," said Jon Hanson, a high school principal in Tucson, Ariz. and 2006 grant recipient. "We were able to play at the JV level [last year] and now look to be competing at the varsity level next season."

Steve Stenersen, executive director of US Lacrosse, noted that "While US Lacrosse continues to increase its investment in this program each year, we’re also fortunate to benefit from the generous contributions of equipment from manufacturers Brine, Warrior, STX, Maverik, Cascade, Shamrock and the Lacrosse Industry Council which enable us to do so much more."

The equipment included in this year's grant packages has a retail value of more than $425,000.
