Olympic Gold-Medalist Mike Eruzione is Convention's Keynote Speaker

BALTIMORE, Md. – Mike Eruzione's third goal of the 1980 Winter Olympics is the one history will always remember – a twenty-foot slapshot, past Soviet defenseman Vasili Pervukhin. Eruzione scored the winning goal that led Team USA to defeat the Soviet Union on the way to the gold at Lake Placid. Now, the captain of the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team that beat all odds will share how to overcome any obstacle and become a champion. He will speak to thousands of lacrosse coaches, athletes and officials at the 2008 US Lacrosse National Convention. The convention will take place in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, January 18-20, 2008.

Mike EruzioneThe US Lacrosse National Convention is the largest networking and educational opportunity in the sport of lacrosse. While lacrosse and hockey have their similarities, it is not necessarily the sport Eruzione will be focused on - it’s the message. This convention will attract over 5,000 lacrosse coaches, players and officials from around the country in gear for the 2008 season.

A world-class speaker isn’t the only thing this convention for the fastest growing sport in the country has to offer. Beginner coaches will learn the game and advance their technique with live field demonstrations every hour. High school and college coaches can get an edge at educational sessions geared toward all levels of coaching. Referees will hone their officiating skills and learn about 2008 rule updates.

Lacrosse enthusiasts can see the latest and greatest gear and equipment on the market at the Vendor Village, where over 140 vendors will be stationed. And everyone will enjoy the speaker line-up for the weekend. A few of the coaches addressing attendees include: Duke men’s coach John Danowski, Georgetown women’s coach Ricky Fried, and U.S. Men’s and Women’s Under-19 Team Head Coaches Chuck Apel and Wendy Kridel.
