US Lacrosse Names Rhamel Bratton to 2008 U.S. Men’s Under-19 Team

BALTIMORE – Rhamel Bratton, a 2007 graduate of Huntington High School (N.Y.) and a freshman midfielder for the University of Virginia, has been named to replace Duke freshman midfielder Justin Turri on the 2008 U.S. Under-19 men’s lacrosse team. Turri was injured in the fall and has been unable to play this spring.

Bratton has scored seven goals and added six assists for the Cavaliers, who are 9-1 and ranked fourth in this week’s USILA Division I poll. Bratton was selected from the pool of alternates that took part in the tryout for the team last July. He will join his brother, Shamel, on the U.S. team. Shamel is also a freshman at Virginia.

The 2008 International Lacrosse Federation U-19 World Championship will be held from July 3-12 in British Columbia, Canada. The U.S. has won each of the five previous ILF U-19 World Championships conducted, most recently in 2003.
