US Lacrosse Adds Seven to the Staff


BALTIMORE– US Lacrosse, the Baltimore-based national governing body of the sport, welcomes seven new staff members. Makeba Barrat, Kim Rodgers, Alyssa Anderson, Rob Scherr, Deloris Mabins-Adenekan, Phil Reccio and Nathaniel Badder have all recently joined the US Lacrosse team.

Makeba Barrat joined US Lacrosse as a financial development assistant. Barrat is currently attending Coppin State University (Md.). Upon completion of an undergraduate degree she plans to pursue law school. As financial development assistant, she attends to the administrative duties of the financial development department while also assisting with data entry, special event planning, coordinating schedules, meeting planning and preparation, and travel planning and preparation. Before coming to US Lacrosse, Barrat worked for the Maryland Food Bank. She is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Kim Rogers joined US Lacrosse as an event manager for the Special Events department. She oversees specific US Lacrosse events such as the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament, which was recently held in Baltimore. Rogers was a previous employee of US Lacrosse, working in the financial development department from 2001-2005. Rogers then worked in software consulting and corporate sales before returning to the sport’s national governing body. Rogers has a degree in business management from Goucher College (Md.) and is a New Jersey native.

Alyssa Anderson came on board at US Lacrosse in May as the senior membership services representative. Anderson is a graduate of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). As senior membership services representative, Anderson ensures members are getting the best service and assistance from US Lacrosse. Before coming to US Lacrosse, Anderson was a full-time student and held a part-time job as a marketing and recruiting associate with Aflac. She is originally from Annapolis, Md. where she attended and played lacrosse for Broadneck High School.

Rob Scherr joined US Lacrosse in June as sponsorship manager. Scherr is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He is in charge of securing organization, event and program sponsors and providing service to sponsor accounts. Scherr coached lacrosse at McDonogh School in 2004 and at Villa Julie College in 2005. He is currently a goalie for a Major League Lacrosse team, the New Jersey Pride. Scherr has lived in the Baltimore area his entire life and currently resides in Pikesville, Md.

Deloris Mabins-Adenekan joined US Lacrosse in June as the associate director of financial development. She is a graduate of Morgan State University. At US Lacrosse she will focus on corporate and foundation grants and will assist with campaign activities. Mabins-Adenekan has had extensive experience in fundraising, most recently at Catholic University. She has also worked at Johns Hopkins, Trinity University and Earlham College. She resides in Washington D.C.

Phil Recchio, annual fund manager for US Lacrosse, is a Hobart College (N.Y.) graduate. Reccio began his fundraising career as a student ambassador at Hobart. At US Lacrosse, Recchio oversees efforts to increase the annual charitable donations through an array of direct mail, phon-a-thon campaigns and e-mail fundraising appeals. Before US Lacrosse he was the annual fund coordinator at UMBC. Reccio is originally from Livonia, NY.

Nathaniel Badder joined US Lacrosse in June as the officials training and education manager. Badder is a 1998 graduate from Middlebury College (Vt.) where he received a bachelor’s degree in political science and a 2004 graduate from Elmira College (N.Y.) where he received his master’s degree in general education. As officials training and education manager, Badder coordinates training programs for current and aspiring referees and umpires around the country. Badder previously served as associate director of athletics at Brentwood School in Los Angeles. Additionally, he has coached lacrosse at the youth, high school and collegiate levels, including stints at Elmira College, the University of California-Berkeley (Berkeley, Calif.), Brentwood School, Marin Academy (San Rafael, Calif.) and the Skyline Lacrosse Club (Oakland, Calif.). Badder grew up in Baltimore.
