US Lacrosse Seeks Sites for Level 2 Clinics

US Lacrosse, the national governing body of the sport of lacrosse, has identified  seven key regions for its first full season of  Coaching Education Program (CEP) Level 2 regional clinics . The organization is seeking potential regional host sites for these clinics through a bid to host process open until May 1, 2009.

US Lacrosse will select up to four men’s and women’s game sites from August 2009 through December 2009 and up to four men’s and women’s game sites from January 2010 through March 2010 in the following regions:

Region 1: Northwest
Region 2: Pacific
Region 9: Southeast
Region 10: Great Lakes
Region 12: Middle Atlantic
Region 13: Upper Atlantic
Region 16: Lower New England

The Level 2 regional clinic season spans from August 2009 through March 2010 with specific dates to be determined in conjunction with the host group and facility selected.

“This is the first full season of Level 2 instructional clinics,” said Erin Smith, director of education and training. “We have selected 7 of our 16 chapter regions with the most coaches who have earned a Level 1 Instructional Clinic certificate for this inaugural Level 2 clinic season. These clinics are regionally based and will draw from a larger area than our Level 1 clinic model. We are looking for interested facilities or host groups who can best support a regional event of this nature.”

Sites that can accommodate both a men’s and women’s clinic on the same day in the same location or close proximity are preferred. Centrality to US Lacrosse chapters with highest concentration of Level 1 clinic certificate holders within the region will also be considered. Participation data is available upon request.

The pre-requisite for coaches attending a Level 2 Instructional Clinic is prior completion of a Level 1 Instructional Clinic. Nearly 5,000 coaches have earned a Level 1 Clinic certificate. Level 1 clinics run nationally from September through March each year and host groups/sites are determined through an application process managed by US Lacrosse staff. Level 1 intent to host applications are due May 15, 2009 and open to any interested league, club or chapter.
