For Officials

Welcome lacrosse officials! This page was designed to provide you with additional information about programs and services that may be of benefit to you. Below are direct links to pages within the US Lacrosse web site with information pertinent to officiating lacrosse on the youth, high school and college levels.

Becoming an Official
If you're interested in learning about becoming a men's lacrosse official, send an e-mail to officials@uslacrosse.org and visit the MDOC Training page to learn more.

If you're interested in learning about becoming a women's lacrosse official, please visit the WDOC web site and send an e-mail to the contact from your area.

A recruiting brochure (PDF) for new officials, which includes a section on how to get started, is available for downloading.

Recruiting and Retention
The US Lacrosse Men's and Women's Division Officials Councils collaborated to develop a "Recruiting and Retention Playbook" to help programs and leagues around the country address the nationwide shortage of officials.

Sportsmanship Card Information
The US Lacrosse Youth Council and the men's and women's division officials' councils have taken pro-active steps to help insure a positive culture for the sport at the youth lacrosse level. The MDOC/WDOC Sideline Manager and Sportsmanship Card concepts have been designed to be preventative tools at youth games. For more information about implementation of the sportsmanship card and downloadable documents, please click here.

US Lacrosse Insurance Program
One of the many benefits of membership in US Lacrosse is insurance. Bollinger Insurance administers the US Lacrosse Insurance Program and there are a number of benefits that relate directly to officials. For more details on the program, visit Bollinger.

US Lacrosse Gift Shop
Training materials and key items such as rule books are available through the US Lacrosse Gift Shop (US Lacrosse members are eligible for a 10 percent discount).

Positive Coaching Alliance
In 2001, US Lacrosse began a partnership with the Stanford University-based Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). PCA was formed with the goal of changing the culture in youth sports to improve the experience of athletes at all ages, with the mission of “transforming youth sports so sports can transform youth.” US Lacrosse and the PCA sponsor the PCA Workshop Grant Program. Get more information on the partnership and the PCA.
