Useful Contact

Contact can be useful in that by using one’s body a player can safely dislodge a ball from an opponent's stick, redirect a player into a location of low shot potential or out-of-bounds for a turnover. By placing one’s body between an opponent and the ball, a player can earn a distinct positional advantage.

Body contact can also be a competitive disadvantage if not executed properly. A player that over emphasizes body contact will put himself in an unbalanced position, giving his opponent a situation advantage.
