Interested in starting a lacrosse program but unable to fund it? The US Lacrosse Equipment Grant may be just the answer you’re looking for! Grants include a full team’s worth of equipment (sticks and protective gear) and are awarded to programs within their first year of operation. Applicant programs must be comprised of players under age 19 and demonstrate financial need. Priority is given to those residing in a state or region where lacrosse opportunities are currently limited or absent. This grant program also includes some special grants for new and developing US Lacrosse BRIDGE affiliate programs in underserved communities. For more information on the BRIDGE Initiative please visit the BRIDGE portion of our website.
The generous donations of Brine, Cascade, deBeer, STX and Warrior enabled 34 teams across the nation to participate in their first seasons through US Lacrosse Youth Equipment Grants this year. The grants are also funded in part by an endowment established following the 1998 International Lacrosse Federation World Championships, successfully hosted by US Lacrosse. Additionally, the Lance Holden Memorial Fund, established by Lance's business partner Jim Darcangelo of Lax World to perpetuate Lance's lifelong contribution to lacrosse, provides one boys’ grant each year.
Please note: In 2005, US Lacrosse had an overwhelming response to the Youth Equipment Grant Program. In the past four years we have been able to award over half of the applications we receive each year. The Grant Program seeds a team with protective gear and sticks for the life of the program while the Loan Kit Program is for only one year. In order to seed more teams for life, the resources for the US Lacrosse Loan Kit Program have been reallocated for the Equipment Grant Program beginning in January 2006. US Lacrosse will continually be working with the Lacrosse Industry to improve the Equipment Grant Program.
If you have received a loan kit, US Lacrosse will be in communication with you regarding your kit.
Equipment Grants are awarded on an annual basis.
