Getting to Know...

  • Twitter: @LMunday01
  • Other sports played in high school: Soccer and basketball
  • Favorite lacrosse player: Meg Hatton, Molly Sentowski and Alex Bennett – three fourth graders from my sister’s class who are OBSESSED with lacrosse and Team USA. They and girls like them inspire me and make me realize how lucky I am!
  • Favorite athlete from another sport: Mia Hamm
  • Best advice received from a coach: “Play loose.” – my Mom
  • Strengths as a player: Seeing the field well and leadership on the offensive end. I also try to manage the pace of the game as much as possible.
  • What should every player at your position be able to do on the field: Decision-making is the number one asset an attacker can have. Sometimes as attackers we get excited when we get the ball and like to shoot it quickly into a possession. It’s important to always wait for the best opportunity, not just the first one.
  • Most important part of your game/season preparation: The most important part of my preparation is fitness. I make sure that I am the best shape possible to have the most confidence in my game. Especially after college, it is essential to be motivated to train on your own because you don’t have practice every day. Luckily, fitness, stick work, and shooting are all things you can do by yourself if need be.
  • Game day ritual: I like to do five minutes of wall ball if possible so my stick is warmed up, and I listen to my iPod. I go from beachy reggae music to rap songs with good beats to get in the mood.
  • Best lacrosse moment: Winning the 2005 National Championship and taking the field with my teammates – I still get goose bumps thinking about it. The 2009 World Cup final – wearing the Team USA jersey and holding the American flag was unbelievable. Those are two of the happiest days of my life.
  • Fun fact: I used to play boys lacrosse when I was younger because we didn’t have a girls team yet. It was fun to run around in pads and get to push people around!
