National Emeritus Umpire

The National Emeritus Umpire:

The National Emeritus Umpire is an individual who has retired from umpiring high level games and is recognized for their exceptional service on the local, district and or national level.

The National Emeritus rating is conferred by the NUC upon an individual who has renewed her National rating at least twice.  While she may no longer wish to renew the National rating, she may wish to continue to umpire and provide service to the region as a clinician or an evaluator for an additional period of time.

Criteria, Description of Role and Process for selecting Candidate for the National Emeritus Rating

  1. A Region may nominate an umpire or candidate may nominate herself.
  2. The National Emeritus Umpire must have held a National rating for a minimum of seven (7) years and chooses not to renew her National rating but continues to umpire in her home region.
  3. The National Emeritus Umpire is no longer an active umpire at high-level competitions.
  4. The National Emeritus Umpire may umpire provided she takes and passes the written examination annually and achieves a score of at least 92%, and pass the practical on-field test per The Umpire Manual Section X-C and D.
  5. The National Emeritus Umpire may continue to train and rate umpire candidates at all levels provided she takes and passes the written examination annually, achieves a score of at least 92%, attend the annual National Rule Interpretation and maintain good standing with their Local, Region and Super Region Umpire Boards.
  6. Nominations for Umpire Emeritus Rating, Time Frame and Selection

    1.      Candidates nominated for the National Emeritus designation will be asked to complete a nominating form and send a resume to the NUC Chair by November 1 for review a the next NUC meeting.

    2.      The Emeritus Umpire Award nomination shall be presented by the NUC Chair at any NUC meeting.

Distinguished National Umpire Award

 
   

Distinguished National Service Umpire Award is an honorary award given by the WDOC Executive Committee to an umpire who has shown exceptional service toward the professional development and standards of umpires on the local, regional and national level.

Five of these distinguished umpires currently are members of the Philadelphia Local Umpiring Board, while the sixth (Sue McVaugh) originated from the Philadelphia board but currently continues within the leadership ranks of the Central New York Board.
