Q&A with Aly Josephs

by Sara Crosby

First off congrats on #3. Now that your college experience is over, have you thought about what place lacrosse will take from now on?

I think about it a lot. I really miss lax. It's definitely part of my identity and it's hard not being surrounded by people who feel the same way. I think I miss it even more living in a region of the country that is unfamiliar with the sport. I hope to join some sort of pick up league out here or coach a club team. I think the sport has enormous potential to catch on out here so my goal is to help build lax in SoCal.

After graduating, I first enjoyed my new found retirement from the Division I commitment, but it didn't take long for me to miss the sport. Are you enjoying the change? Or do you miss playing every day?

I miss playing very much. I am fortunate enough to work with a professional sports team on a daily basis that helps fulfill my desire to be on a team, but I miss the camaraderie and believe it or not the physical demands of lacrosse.

Will you take time off or pick up your stick looking for the next ground ball that comes your way?

At this point I have to take time off. I certainly would love to be on a team but given my location and lack of popularity surrounding the sport I feel like I have little chance to play.

Have any of you thought about coaching, either at the college or high school level? I think I might try to coach at the club level if my job allows me the time.

Besides the international arena, the only other opportunity to play is with a club team. Would you ever think about putting together a Northwestern alumni club team? Other schools, or groups of schools, have similar teams that play in tournaments.

If we all lived in a close area I would love to be a part of an alumni club team. We would be a really good club team if that were the case!!!
