US Lacrosse National Girls' High School Academic All-American Team Process

Nomination Criteria
Only US Lacrosse members who are the head varsity coach of a girls' high school state sanctioned varsity team (not club) may nominate a player for this honor. Coaches must renew their membership prior to April 1, 2009 and be current through the lacrosse season, including playoffs.

Academic All American Quality Definition
"A US Lacrosse Academic All-American is a player who exhibits exemplary lacrosse skills and good sportsmanship on the field and represents high standards of academic achievement in the classroom. This player should also have left her mark beyond the lacrosse field and the classroom by making significant contributions of service to the school and/or community."

US Lacrosse2009 Nomination Process/Deadline

US Lacrosse Coach members must complete the Academic All-American Nomination Forms (Part 1 and 2) and submit it to their US Lacrosse Chapter Girls Academic All-American Selection Committee Chairperson prior to May 20, 2009. Academic All-American Forms that are not filled out completely will not be considered. Player Criteria
Any girls varsity lacrosse player who meets ALL of the following criteria:
• Coach is a Head Varsity Coach US Lacrosse member prior to April 1, 2009.
• Player is a starter or significant contributor (plays over half a game).
• Player carries a minimum of 50 percent of her course load in college preparatory courses of honor or advanced placement level
• Player has a cumulative (freshman year through May 15, 2009) grade point average of a weighted 3.6 GPA out of a 4.0 academic scale in college preparatory courses of honors or advanced placement level courses
• Player is a junior or senior in high school
• Player has made significant contributions to the school and/or community beyond participation on school athletic teams and has verification of these contributions on the application form.
• Player's coach has submitted the Academic All-American Forms (Part 1 and 2) completely and making sure it is signed by the college counselor or principal and coach or athletics director, to their Chapter Academic All-American Chair by May 20, 2009 will be honored as an US Lacrosse Women’s Division High School Academic All-American.
• A coach may submit a maximum of five players for this honor. Players must be ranked on the application form.
• Players who are nominated for either Academic All-American or All-American recognition must accumulate a total of penalty points that is less than or equal to 25% of the total number of games played during that season. For each Yellow Card that a player receives during the season, that player is assigned one "Penalty Point". For each Red Card, a player is assigned two "Penalty Points". (Example: A girl plays in 20 games, she is allowed five points. Those points could come from five yellow cards or one red and three yellows. If another girl played in 24 games, she would be allowed six points, etc.)

Certificates
This honor will be presented to the student-athlete through the Women’s Division Coaches Council of each Chapter of US Lacrosse. A template for the Academic All-American honor is provided to each Chapter Coaches Council representative. It is the responsibility of the Chapter to print and mail these certificates to each player in a timely manner. The Chapter will release the names of their Academic All-Americans to their coaches and local media, two days after they have received confirmation from US Lacrosse that their nominations have been received. This honor will be presented after Junior and/or Senior years are completed.

Deadline for Academic All-American Selection Chair
The Coaches Council Representative from each chapter is responsible for submitting the High School Academic All-American selections via the secured access page of the US Lacrosse Web site by June 6, 2009. Information on how to submit this information will be e-mailed to Chapter Academic All-American coordinators by May 1, 2009.
