2005 IFWLA World Cup Venue Information
The 2005 IFWLA World Cup will utilize two U.S. Naval Academy athletic facilities during the 10-day tournament. The first five days of competition will be played at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The final five days of World Cup competition, which includes the semifinals and final, will be played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is home to the U.S. Naval Academy's football and men's lacrosse teams. The stadium will play host to the final five days of the 2005 IFWLA World Cup. The final two days of competition includes the semifinals and the championship. Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is also the site of the opening and closing ceremonies. Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is located less then two miles from the USNA and offers plenty of on-site parking. World Cup seating will be on the lower section on the north side, which seats 9,000 spectators. The entire stadium has a seating capacity of 34,000.
The U.S. Naval Academy just completed a three-phase, $40 million dollar renovation project on the stadium. The renovations brought new seating throughout the entire stadium, two state-of-the-art video scoreboards, ADA seating platforms and access ramps, four new corner concession stands, a south end zone seating section and eight luxury suites, a new press box, Bermuda grass playing surface, additional sideline seating created by lowering the playing field and relocating the north end zone beam to give the stadium a more intimate look and feel.
The 2005 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship was held at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on May 20-22 drawing over 4,000 fans to the final between top-ranked Northwestern and defending champion Virginia. Northwestern won its first-ever women's lacrosse championship beating UVa 13-10.

 The Glenn Warner Soccer Facility is located on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy and will play host to the first five days of World Cup competition. The facility has a Bermuda grass playing surface, measuring 120 yards by 75-yards, with a modern drainage system which allows the field to withstand heavy rain. The Class of 1983 funded a new state-of-the-art scoreboard plus the lights for the field have been upgraded. The stadium seats 1,600 fans with room for further expansion. |
