US Lacrosse today announced the opening of the application period for players interested in trying out for the 2015-16 U.S. Women’s National Team. Tryouts will be held June 12-14, 2015, at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.

Interested candidates can apply for consideration to be invited to try out and will be evaluated by a selection committee including the current U.S. women’s national team coaching staff, led by head coach Ricky Fried. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and a U.S. citizen. Candidates must also be current members of US Lacrosse through the end of tryouts.

Completed applications are to be submitted online to US Lacrosse by Friday, April 24. The approximately 80-100 player pool for the June tryout will be announced on Friday, May 8 at USLacrosse.org. Those selected for the tryout will be required to confirm attendance by Friday, May 22.

After the three-day tryout in June, approximately 36-40 players will be selected to the 2015-16 U.S. women’s national team, which will train as part of the lead-up to the 2017 FIL Women’s World Cup in Guildford, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S. as the team goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.

The world champion U.S. women’s national team trains and plays using best-in-class products provided by Nike (apparel and footwear), Brine (equipment), deBeer (equipment), STX (equipment), and Under Armour (equipment). Nationwide and Marriott International are official sponsors of Team USA.
