“Bid for Gold,” an online auction to benefit the U.S. national teams for lacrosse opens on March 16 and runs through Thursday, March 18. The auction is a great way for lacrosse enthusiasts to secure USA gear and help support the nation’s elite athletes.

There are 24 packages up for auction with opening bid prices ranging from $20 to $200. Featured items include autographed jerseys, helmets, cleats, complete sticks and more.

The sport’s very best players earn the high honor of representing the red, white and blue as a member of one of five U.S. national teams (men’s senior, women’s senior, men’s U20, women’s U20 and men’s box). Donor support helps cover the costs of player selection, training, outfitting, feeding and transporting the national team athletes who are set for a busy period in representing the country while fulfilling their mission to help the sport grow.

Tryouts of for the U.S. women’s senior team are set for this June and that will lead into a robust training calendar ahead of four world championships scheduled for 2022.

US Lacrosse will host the World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship from June 29 through July 9, 2022 at Towson University. A record 30 nations are expected to compete for the championship with the U.S. seeking to defend its 2017 world championship.

Both the men’s and women’s national teams will represent the country at The World Games from July 7-17 in Birmingham, Ala. This multi-sport Olympic-style event will feature men’s lacrosse for the first time. Women’s lacrosse made its debut in 2017 with the U.S. beating Canada in Poland to win the inaugural gold medal.

Wrapping up the 2022 world championship calendar will be the World Lacrosse Men’s U21 World Championship from Aug. 10-20, 2022 in Limerick, Ireland. Originally scheduled for 2020, this event has been postponed twice due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and has increased the age limit to allow all players that originally qualified for the event to compete.
