You can’t blame Matt Bocklet for being a little nervous. When he makes his presentation at the US Lacrosse West Regional Conference in Las Vegas next month, the guy on deck is pretty intimidating — Team USA and three-time national champion coach John Danowski. Bocklet shared as much in a funny tweet posted last week.

The responses were gold, with friends and strangers chiming in with legitimate advice and some good-natured jabs.

People recommended sock puppets, free swag, free shots, a mic drop and Denver Outlaws goalie Kai Iwamoto even offered to serve sushi during the presentation.

Fun aside, Bocklet brings his own credentials to his presentation on team defense. The former Fairfield and Johns Hopkins star played over a decade with the Outlaws and was a captain on three Major League Lacrosse championship teams, retiring after helping Denver win the 2017 title. His No. 7 jersey was retired by the Outlaws this summer.

He’s now the defensive coordinator for the Outlaws and the head coach for the boys’ lacrosse team at Cherry Creek High School. He led the Bruins to the 2019 Colorado state championship this past May.

And count Danowski among those there to hear what Bocklet has to say.
