The Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) has issued two recent warnings regarding lacrosse balls from Signature Lacrosse, and provided the following statement to US Lacrosse concerning Signature Lacrosse ball models:

SEI confirms that Signature Lacrosse ball model 1.3, in colors white, yellow, neon pink and neon green, was withdrawn from the SEI Certified Product List on November 13, 2019.

SEI also confirms that on November 18, 2019, Signature Lacrosse issued recalls for the following lacrosse ball models and colors: KSONE 1.6 in all colors, Lacrosse Unlimited 1.4 in green, and Under Armour 1.5 in yellow, pink, green and orange. On November 25, 2019, Signature Lacrosse issued a recall for the Signature Lacrosse 1.3 model in green. These lacrosse ball models were withdrawn for the manufacturing dates specified in the Signature Lacrosse recall letters because they were not certified by SEI during those specified dates.

US Lacrosse, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) require that all balls used in lacrosse games meet the NOCSAE standard, which includes that all balls must be SEI certified. The US Lacrosse rules are applicable to youth boys’ and girls’ field rules and box lacrosse rules.

At this time, there are currently no Signature Lacrosse balls that are listed on the SEI certified product list, which means that Signature Lacrosse balls are not considered legal for play.
