Good teammates look out for each other.

That’s the premise behind the Team Up Speak Up campaign, in which players are encouraged to notify a coach or athletic trainer if they suspect a teammate might have a concussion.

For the third straight year, US Lacrosse has partnered with the Concussion Legacy Foundation to help promote a healthy team environment in which players are encouraged to speak up on behalf of an injured  teammate.

The week of March 1-7 has been designated as Team Up Speak Up week for lacrosse teams across the country. US Lacrosse encourages all coaches to give a simple speech at the beginning of the season reminding their players to take the responsibility of speaking up about concussions.

“We believe that coaches set the tone for how their athletes respond on the field," said Dr. Bruce Griffin, director of the Center for Sport Science at US Lacrosse. "We hope that every lacrosse player hears their coach share this vital message.”

Participating teams are encouraged to sign the online pledge that shows their commitment to fighting concussions.
