Hey lacrosse fans, young and old…the time has arrived.

It’s your chance, once again, to express in your own words why you love lacrosse and love the inclusiveness that lacrosse offers to all.

We want to celebrate the fact that anyone from anywhere can join in the fun. And we want to hear your story. The third annual diversity and inclusion essay contest is underway, and we welcome your submissions.

This year, we are asking you to tell us about a lacrosse coach or mentor who has had a positive impact on your life. Specifically….how has this person created an inclusive environment for you and your teammates and promoted acceptance of each player's individual differences?

Not sure what we mean by inclusion and inclusiveness? Here is our basic definition: a proactive culture of understanding and acceptance that makes each person feel welcome and part of the team or organization.

As in previous years, we’re offering exclusively designed Encore Brand team shooting shirts to the contest winner. Yup, that’s right…the person with the winning entry will receive 25 shirts for their whole team, designed by former Major League Lacrosse and National Lacrosse League player and University of Virginia All-American Johnny Christmas.

So don’t delay. Start putting your entry together (we don’t need more than 150-200 words) and send it to us, along with a picture of yourself or your team, before March 31.

Finally, in case you need a little inspiration to help you get started, take a couple of minutes to watch this video in which coaches, players and others share their stories about the impact of having an inclusive environment in lacrosse.
