It’s officially “Lacrosse Weekend” in Philadelphia with the US Lacrosse Convention (LaxCon) coming to the Pennsylvania Convention Center from Jan. 11-13 and the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings hosting the Georgia Swarm for US Lacrosse Night at Wells Fargo Arena on Jan. 12.

“We are excited to work with US lacrosse to grow the sport in the Philadelphia market,” said Lindsey Masciangelo, vice president of business operations for the Wings. “Lacrosse Weekend in Philadelphia will just be the beginning of the great work we will do together to expose young kids to the sport.”

The Wings players conducted a clinic for the Kingsessing Roadrunners, a multi-sport youth development program that receives annual support from US Lacrosse as part of the Urban Lacrosse Alliance.

LaxCon, the sport’s largest educational opportunity for coaches, officials and administrators, kicks off on Friday with more than 100 sessions scheduled through Sunday. Traditionally, LaxCon brings approximately 7,000 lacrosse enthusiasts together.

In addition to the core educational track at LaxCon, the sport is showcased at Fan Fest. Fan Fest will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It features the latest in lacrosse gear, uniforms and swag from 150 exhibitors in the sport’s largest expo hall, plus demonstrations and autographs from members of Team USA and other top players and coaches in the sport.

The Wings roster includes three players currently on the U.S. Men’s Indoor Training Team — Trevor Baptiste, Adam Osika and Blaze Riorden. At the Wings game, which begins on Saturday night at 7 p.m., the team will be collecting new and gently used lacrosse equipment that will be donated to the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association, a local chapter of US Lacrosse.

A combo ticket for Saturday's Fan Fest and the Wings game is available online for just $23 via US Lacrosse (offer ends on Friday, Jan. 11).
