During this time of isolation and social distancing, we know that many athletes want to continue their fitness and strength training as actively as possible.

To support that effort, experts at MedStar Health, the official sports medicine partner of US Lacrosse and the U.S. National Teams, have developed some helpful exercise tips to keep athletes on track.

The strengthening exercises can be utilized to maintain muscle integrity for lacrosse players during this time. The exercises incorporate full body movements, which help to maintain core stability and improve power, both of which are essential to shooting and passing in lacrosse.

Step-by-step explanations are provided for the strengthening exercises, which include plank, squat and squat jump, hip bridge, pushups, row and pull-ups. They can be progressed by changing the sets and repetitions done, length of time each exercise is performed, and amount of weight being used.

MedStar also notes that wall ball and playing catch with a family member are easy ways to safely practice lacrosse skills outdoors.

Staying active during the COVID-19 pandemic is important for both physical and mental well-being. Making time for 30-60 minutes of daily exercise can help individuals stay healthy.
