Championship lacrosse season is heating up, but one person can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Dara Robbins, manager of the Coaching Education Program (CEP), has spent the last six plus months coordinating the logistics for 98 US Lacrosse instructional clinics in 32 states. Robbins works with host volunteers through US Lacrosse chapters and local lacrosse organizations to put on the clinics.

The net result?

In this year’s “clinic” season, a total of 4,769 participants completed the courses.

“We’re really fortunate to have so many talented trainers that travel the country for us, and a tremendous group of volunteers with our chapters and local programs that make these clinics possible,” said Robbins. “The curriculum in our program is a tremendous resource for coaches, which ultimately benefits the players.”

The seven-hour instructional clinics provide tactical advice, coaching philosophy, safety information and more to best position coaches to help their players improve and enjoy their lacrosse experience. Looking at the number of coaches that participated in the clinics and multiplying that number by the number of players on their teams, it’s easy to see the impact these clinics make. And they’re just one part of the US Lacrosse Coaching Education Program.

Over the same period, more than 7,500 online coaching education program courses were completed and more than 5,000 people completed “Double-Goal Coach®: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons” courses from the Positive Coaching Alliance.

“The US Lacrosse Coaching Education Program brings truly measurable value to coaches (of all levels) by delivering research-based teaching technique tailored specifically for the men’s and women’s games,” said Kevin Greene, senior manager of the CEP at US Lacrosse. “We design, develop and deliver content and practical tools, which allow coaches to apply these techniques in an age-appropriate manner with the development of the student-athlete at the core.”
