SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse has announced 26 regional tryout locations for its 2020 National Team Development Program (NTDP).

Building off the success of last year, US Lacrosse will once again work with the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) on the first phase of the NTDP, the regional tryouts. Last year, more than 1,300 players participated in regional tryouts.

The regional tryouts are coordinated by players and coaches affiliated with PLL, WPLL and U.S. national teams, giving young players the experience of learning from some of the brightest minds in the sport. The NTDP is designed to bring players into the national team pipeline at an earlier age and expose players around the country to elite level training and coaching.

The top players from the regional tryouts will be invited to the NTDP National Combine at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., with the boys’ combine set for Aug. 10-12 and the girls’ combine following Aug. 12-14.

Girls players competing in the regional tryouts will also have the opportunity to be selected for the WPLL Summit in late July, where they will be trained by WPLL players as well as participate in numerous leadership instruction activities.

Players that competed on USA Select teams in 2019 and remain age eligible for the NTDP will automatically be invited to the national combine. From the national combine, a total of 88 players will be selected to compete on the USA Select U15 and U17 teams against international competition this fall.

Last year, the USA Select teams competed in the Brogden Cup, sweeping all eight games against teams from Ontario. The final four games of the Brogden Cup were streamed live on Lax Sports Network.

To be eligible for the 2020 National Team Development Program, individuals must be born on or between Aug. 31, 2002 and Aug. 31, 2006.
