SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today announced Corrigan Sports Enterprises as a partner participating in its tournament sanctioning program, designating nine of the company’s events as US Lacrosse Sanctioned Tournaments.

The US Lacrosse tournament sanctioning program represents an initiative to raise the quality of the youth tournament experience and publicize events that meet operational criteria developed by US Lacrosse and industry experts. Corrigan Sports Enterprises owns and/or operates several tournaments each year for youth, middle school- and high school-aged boys’ and girls’ lacrosse.

“The Corrigan Sports team is thrilled to have our events as part of the US Lacrosse sanctioning program,” Matt Cornell, director of events at Corrigan, said. “US Lacrosse has done a great job bringing together leaders in our sport to raise the bar in the industry. The standards have been set, and we look forward to working with US Lacrosse and the other sanctioning partners to deliver the highest quality tournaments and events.”

Sanctioned tournaments have been deemed by the sport’s national governing body to meet best-practice standards in five categories: venue, game format, risk management, tournament administration, and the use of certified US Lacrosse officials.

The Corrigan events aligned with the sanctioned tournament standards are, in chronological order:

IWLCA Presidents Cup (girls), Nov. 17-19, 2017 Orlando, Fla.
IWLCA Fall Debut (girls), Nov. 18-19, 2017, Davenport, Fla.

Additionally, the Summer Rumble in Richmond, Va., represents a qualifying tournament for the 2018 US Lacrosse Nationals. Teams participating in the 14U, 13U or 12U divisions in that event can earn points towards a berth in the US Lacrosse Nationals, set for Aug. 2-5, 2018, in Frederica, Del.

“Corrigan Sports Enterprises has been one of the leaders in various types of sports events and marketing, and we’re thrilled about its adoption of our sanctioned tournament standards,” Robin Baxter, director of club accounts and sanctioning at US Lacrosse, said. “Partnering with industry leaders allows us to work together toward our shared goals of improving the youth lacrosse tournament experience.”
