US Lacrosse will launch a six-part webinar series later this month to explore some of the issues that impact young girls and women in sports, both as athletes and as members of the sports industry.

She Competes, presented by the U.S. Women's National Lacrosse Team and Nike Lacrosse, will run from Sept 28-30, with two sessions each day. The format will feature panel discussions on topics related to confidence, leadership, and the benefits of sports participation for girls and women.

“Through this virtual series, we want young women to connect with accomplished women in sports and ultimately be inspired to continue playing their sport and have big dreams and aspirations to achieve success,” said Caitlin Kelley, women’s game director for US Lacrosse.

U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Jenny Levy and several players, including Kristen Carr, Kayla Treanor, Taylor Cummings, and Liz Hogan, will be among the presenters, alongside sports administrators, sports psychologists, and national leaders from multiple sports. The U.S. Women will compete in the 2021 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship in Towson, Maryland, July 7-17, 2021.

The entire series is free of charge but requires a basic registration. Additional details and registration links are online at www.uslacrosse.org/shecompetes

“As the number of female athletes grows in our country, understanding the value and unique pathways available for female athletes is critical,” Kelley said. “As one of the fastest growing female sports, lacrosse is rather unique in that it has a predominantly female coaching pool at the collegiate level. Hopefully, that reality can help to offer a unique perspective to inform this discussion.”
