US Lacrosse is aware of the allegations against the Dakota Premier Lacrosse League. We view the actions, as described, as unacceptable and against our culture. We believe and advocate that diversity and inclusion are essential components of our sport. These principles appear throughout our rules and resources.

We do not operate youth leagues like the Dakota Premier Lacrosse League. These leagues are run independently by private or public entities in regions throughout the country. We do develop and advocate for the adoption of best-practices and standards for youth leagues, as well as provide related educational and developmental resources.

Given the nature of these allegations, we have reached out to all parties involved. We are taking this matter seriously, and we will do our best to discover the facts and take appropriate action.

We have also initiated discussions with representatives of the Native American lacrosse community on this issue. We hope to form a Native American Lacrosse Alliance of stakeholders (US Lacrosse, Iroquois Nationals, etc.) to collaborate on strategies that will support the growth of lacrosse among Native American communities, more appropriately recognize the Native American heritage of the sport, and expand educational resources focused on the importance of cultural competency and inclusion.
