Description of Drill-Execution
3 Midfielders and 3 defensive midfielders start at one restraining line. 3 attackers and 3 defenders start at the midfield line. As the coach rolls a ground ball, one offensive midfielder must touch goal line extended before returning to play. As the offensive midfielders advance the ball up field, the attack must recognize the actual transition situation. After the ball is transitioned down the field, play until the ball is shot on goal or goes out of bounds. At this point, have the goalie make a clearing pass and transition the ball back down to the other end of the field.

Variations/Progression/Increased difficulty (As your players improve their skills incorporate the following…)
To vary the drill you may add an extra player after shot is either made or saved at the box area that will run on the field during clears and give the goalie a long outlet pass. The defensive players dropping back to cover will have to work on getting back and trailing the play.
