Leading by just a goal late in the first half, No. 10 Penn scored three goals in the final 3:11 of the half and then broke things open in the second half of a 14-4 victory over Georgetown at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
The Quakers (6-0) led just 4-3 after Georgetown’s Emma Gebhardt scored with 8:11 left in the second quarter. Niki Miles then started what would develop into an eight-goal Penn run on her goal with 3:11 left in the first half. Catherine Berkery and Gracie Smith added goals in the final two minutes.
Penn kept the momentum rolling in the second half with goals by Erika Chung and Anna Brandt in the opening two minutes of the second half. The Quakers held Georgetown scoreless for nearly 30 minutes before Leanna Tsahalis scored with 8:46 to go in the fourth quarter.
Miles had five goals and an assist to go along with four draw controls and two caused turnovers to lead Penn. Anna Brandt added a hat trick and Sophie Davis helped anchor the defense with five caused turnovers.
Maley Starr had two points for the Hoyas (2-6) with a goal and an assist. Leah Warehime made nine saves.

No. 8 North Carolina held East Carolina scoreless in the second half in a 14-6 victory. Caitlyn Wurzburger led the Tar Heels with five points (2g, 3a) and moved into sixth place on North Carolina’s all-time scoring list with 231 career points.
No. 17 Yale improved to 6-0 with an 18-3 win over state rival Central Connecticut State. Eleven different players scored in the game, led by hat tricks from Charlotte Callahan, Bri Carrasquillo and Megan Kitagawa.
Duke rallied in the second half to hand Harvard its first loss of the season. Trailing by as many as three goals and by one entering the fourth quarter, Duke (5-4) scored the final three goals of the game to post a 15-13 victory. Olivia Carner scored the go-ahead goal with 3:15 left in the game. Katie DeSimone had four goals and three assists for Duke and Carly Bernstein added three goals and three asssits. Callie Hem had four goals for Harvard (4-1).
Penn State’s defense limited Lehigh to just 14 shots in a 9-7 road victory. Penn State held Lehigh scoreless in the second quarter and opened up a three-goal lead early in the second half, but could never pull away from the Mountain Hawks. Emma Kelly scored all three of Penn State’s fourth quarter goals to help the Nittany Lions even their record at 4-4.
Kylie Gelabert (2g, 5a) and Josie Vogel (4g, 1a) powered Cornell to a 15-7 victory over Binghamton. The Big Red improved to 5-1 with the victory with its only loss coming against No. 4 Virginia.
Kayla Downey had three goals and seven assists, one away from Virginia Tech’s single game assists mark, as the Hokies beat Furman 20-9 to improve to 6-3 this season.
UC Davis improved to 6-0 at home this season with an 18-7 victory over Winthrop. The Aggies (7-2) got four goals and an assist from Grace Gebhart.
