Brennan O’Neill, the most valuable player at the World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in 2023, is one off 22 people on the ballot for The World Games Athlete of the Year 2023.

O’Neill was the youngest player on the U.S. men’s national team that won gold at the world championship in San Diego last summer. O’Neill had a team-high 14 goals in seven games during the tournament, including five in the 10-7 championship game win over Canada. Entering his senior year at Duke, O’Neill won the Tewaaraton Award in 2023 as the nation’s top collegiate lacrosse player after leading the country in scoring with 97 points. He was nameda a first-team All-American, the third time in his career he earned All-America honors.

A former USA Lacrosse national player of the year at the high school level for St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), O’Neill was also an all-world selection in 2022 after helping lead the U.S. men’s U21 team to a world championship in Ireland.
